Celebration of Life Video

Aloha Gang
Many of you have asked if there's a video you can see of Em's celebration of life.

Carl Rozycki made this beautiful tribute with all the music, speaking, dancing and elements of the day.

Celebration

"This is your goal in life. Make one big circle" Iokepa Nae'ole
For those of you who couldn't attend we started the day at the Hawaiian Canoe Club. As we commenced, one lone dolphin appeared in the harbor; a rare sight.

Celebrating Emalia

All are welcome to remember Emalia Brown Guard Saturday morning February 22nd at the Hawaiian Canoe Club Hale at Hoaloha Park in Kahului. Gather at 8:15 for a blessing. We will be in the boats by 9. Bring your boards or one-mans. Many will also gather on the beach as we celebrate her in the water. Attire: Pareos, bathing suits & board shorts.

For those who want to more fully remember Emalia, we will be celebrating her at Seabury Hall with memories and music beginning at 2:30 pm Saturday. Aloha attire (and maybe a sweater).

Many of you have generously asked about donations: we are starting the Kahalakea Guard Educational fund.

Emalia

Emalia passed away this morning at home in Paia with JB and her mom by her side. She got to say a sweet goodbye to Kahala before he went to school. Just after JB returned home, her breathing slowed and then stopped. JB said it was as peaceful as he could imagine and she was smiling in her last moments.  As it has been since the beginning of this journey, the love and support from all of you has been amazing. Thank you.

Monday Update

Emalia and JB have been so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from you all. As Em says “it makes me feel so special.”

But her energy is pretty low and she is napping often. Kahala’s transition to preschool has gone incredibly well, but Em needs all her strength for her time with him when he comes home from school.

If you are thinking of dropping by, please text JB first. If you don’t hear back from him you can assume they are napping and it’s not a good time for a visit.

The love you are sending and the help with food and dog-walking mean so much right now. Thank you all.

Latest CT Scan

Aloha Gang- Em just received results from her most recent CT scan and there’s no good news. The cancer is very aggressive, and her lungs have now been severely compromised by metastases. She has exhausted the chemotherapy options available and is now going on a maintenance protocol that we hope will just slow some of the disease’s progress. She is uncomfortable with nausea and pain; her energy is low.
Kahala starts pre-school this week. JB and Em are just looking to create some routine and normalcy for him.
As always your texts and comments here in the blog are great comfort to her and the family. Many of you have signed up to help with meals or made donations; we can’t thank you enough for your support. If you have questions or concerns feel free to email me becky (at) beckyworley .com.
